Best School Districts in the Greater Philadelphia Area

Parents across the country are getting ready to send their kids back to school and the Greater Philadelphia area is home to some of the art museum According to Newsweek’s list of Best High Schools, many of the top ranked institutions in the country are located right in our backyard!

For those of you looking to purchase a home near a highly ranked school district, below is a list of some of the best in our area.

Bucks County

Median Home Price: $264,900

Central Bucks School District is located in the heart of Bucks County and is the third largest school district in Pennsylvania. With just over 20,000 students, this school district is comprised of 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and three high schools. They have the highest PSSA scores in the county, are ranked 4th highest in the tri-county area and 6th highest in the state.  Central Bucks has a graduation rate of more than 99% and 92% of students further their education at two and four year colleges.

Chester County

Median Home Price: $288,390

The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is located in the eastern part of Chester County. It is primarily made up of single-family homes, andABC includes such notable communities as Paoli, Devon, Berwyn, Daylesford, Chesterbrook, Strafford, and Wayne. More than 6,000 students attend Tredyffrin/Easttown’s eight schools every year, which includes one high school, two middle schools and five elementary schools.  Most notably, Conestoga High School, the district’s high school, is nationally ranked for their highly competitive lacrosse program.

Delaware County

Located in the heart of the Main Line, the Radnor Township School District is just 13 miles west of Philadelphia and encompasses one high school, one middle school and three elementary schools. Known for their tradition of excellence, Radnor Township School District is fully staffed with more than 300 highly qualified teachers and is consistently ranked among the top educational institutions in the country.

Montgomery County

Median Home Price: $245,000

Established as one of Pennsylvania’s first public school districts in 1834, Lower Merion School District (LSMD) is located in Philadelphia’s historic Main Line suburbs. The school district enjoys a rich tradition of achievement, innovation and community partnership and a longstanding reputation as one of the finest school systems in the United States. The district’s six elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools provide a challenging, multi-disciplinary academic program and dynamic, co-curricular experience to more than 6,900 students.

Of the district’s nine eligible schools, all have received recognition for excellence by the Commonwealth and seven have received the NationalclassroomBlue Ribbon Award for Excellence in Education. LMSD schools rank among the highest in Pennsylvania for SAT and PSAT scores, AP Participation rate, total number of National Merit Semifinalists, total number of International Baccalaureate diplomas granted and in numerous publications’ “Top Schools” lists. To top it off, Lower Merion High School was home to the Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard, Kobe Bryant.
